Soapnut

Sapindus mukorossi commonly known as soapnut is a deciduous tree which grows wild in North India.  Its fruits, or berries have been used medically as an expectorant, emetic, contraceptive, and for treatment of excessive salivation, epilepsy, psoriasis, head lice and migraines. Studies have shown that saponin from soap nuts inhibit tumor cell growth. Soap nuts are among the list of herbs and minerals in Ayurveda. They are a popular ingredient in Ayurvedic shampoos and cleansers. They are used in Ayurvedic medicine as a treatment for eczema and psoriasis. Soap nuts have gentle insecticidal properties and are traditionally used for removing lice from the scalp.

 

 

ShikakaiAcacia concinna or Shikakai  is another commonly found plant in India. It can treat skin related diseases like scabies, dry skin and regular use of shikakai on the skin can prevent further skin infections. Shikakai apart from it’s use as hair wash powder, can be used to treat various disease of the scalp too. Hair packs made with shikakai powder, is very beneficial in stimulating hair growth and treating dandruff.

Cinnamon has long been used in treatments related to dental care, like toothaches and cavities, as well as for infections, skin care, stress, headaches, respiratory problems, earaches, indigestion, nausea, blood circulation issues, blood purification, diabetes, immune system weakness, premature ejaculation, cholera, and sties

 

 

Clove

 

Used often in Ayurvedic medicine, cloves are anti-fungal, antibacterial, antiseptic and analgesic. They’re packed with antioxidants and are good sources of minerals (especially manganese), omega-3 fatty acids, fiber and vitamins

This is traditionally used to curb microbial growth, tighten gums and muscles and reduce hemorrhaging. Furthermore, it helps alleviate coughs and colds, stops fungal growth, stimulates discharges and systems, reduces excess gas, is good for stomach health, gives relief from phlegm, ects them from infection. Finally, it boosts protection against diseases, improves circulation, and protects from rheumatism & arthritis, while also boosting health and immunity, sedating inflammation, and reducing spasms.

Kasturi Haldi or Wild turmeric as commonly known abroad is used to treats a variety of skin diseases including acne, eczema and even ameliorates insect bites. Unlike regular haldi or turmeric which is used in cooking, wild turmeric does not stain the skin. Plus, it has a more pronounced aroma. Kasthuri Haldi has strong antiseptic and anti bacterial properties, making it the best for acne treatments. It helps maintain the natural oil balance of the skin. It is also an excellent remedy to prevent stretch marks and is commonly used by pregnant women in India mixed with coconut oil or milk creme.  Regular use of this variety of turmeric as a face pack helps to retard facial hair growth.
